We will ensure you have the correct cover and will give you the advice that you need to protect you and your business, giving you peace of mind and allowing you to concentrate on what you do best, growing your company. We are confident that not only will our price be competitive but more importantly cover will be tailored to meet your needs. We guarantee to you to provide an effective after sales service to deal with your mid-term adjustments or changes to your plan and get the necessary finance organised (if required) through us to keep you business running smoothly.

Just starting out? These are some of the insurances that we would recommend to you.

Every business is different and this applies to the Transport industry as well. We will ask you relevant questions in order to gain a full understanding of what your needs are, once we have gathered this essential information we will then be in a position to make our recommendations to you.

Some of the information that we will need will be, the type of work you do, type of vehicle you operate, nature of goods you carry, if you employ other drivers, etc.

Typically, you will need:

•  Vehicle Insurance which includes trailer cover (where applicable)

•  Goods in Transit

•  Public Liability

•  Employers liability - if you have employees

•  Legal Expenses cover

Other solutions could include:

•  Accident & Sickness cover

•  Vehicle Breakdown cover

•  Loss of Use

•  Continental Medical Expenses cover (if you are involved in regular

  continental work)

How long does it take to get a quotation and arrange cover?

This depends on what you need to insure and at what time during the day we receive your enquiry. Quotations for Operators of up to 4 vehicles are often immediate (where possible). Most quotations including Fleets of 4+ vehicles can be given the same day.

How can your premiums be substantially lower than my existing insurance agent?

We are dedicated to the Haulage and Road Transport sector and have a wealth of knowledge within the industry. Because we hold large accounts with our select insurers, we are able to pass on the massive discounts they give us, meaning that you the customer pay less for your insurance. We have experience of saving over 50% on some of our Client’s annual insurance premiums both on single vehicle and fleet policies compared to their standard insurance broker.

Does my policy cover me for a hire vehicle following an accident?

Unlike many private car insurance policies, Commercial Vehicle policies do not provide cover for a hire vehicle in the event of you losing the use of your vehicle following an insured loss. In the event of a non-fault accident it is possible to recover the outlay for vehicle hire from the third party. However this is by no way guaranteed therefore we recommend arranging Loss of Use cover.

Do I need a Green card when going abroad?

Strictly speaking No. The UK is part of the European Union and Motor Insurers automatically provide cover when travelling to EU member countries. However cover only meets the minimum requirements of the country you are in therefore any damage to your vehicle following an Accident Fire or Theft, even a windscreen breakage (if part of your policy) will NOT be covered.

A green card extends the cover you receive in the UK whilst travelling abroad, therefore we recommend that such cover is arranged prior to a trip.

How do I decide what level of goods in transit insurance I need?

You need to arrange cover, which meets the extent of your financial liability to your customer. In other words the amount you would become financially responsible to your customer for in the event of a loss.

This could be for the full value of the goods carried, this cover is known as ‘All Risks’ or ‘Full Responsibility’. This cover is often arranged by carriers of lower value goods such as quarry materials, building construction materials, tipper work, also specialist carriers of high value goods such as Plant, Machinery, Cars, Boats, Portable Buildings etc.

The alternative is to adopt conditions of carriage such as RHA (Road Haulage Association) or FTA (Freight Transport Association) Conditions of carriage restrict your financial responsibility to your customer to an agreed amount per tonne. This protects you from unknowingly being underinsured as the actual value of goods is not relevant from the carrier’s point of view.

Carriers of general goods within the UK most often adopt them.

For international movements of goods by road CMR cover applies, even if you are only involved in the UK leg of the journey.

What is Public Liability insurance?

This insurance covers legal liability for injury to or damage to the property of the public arising from an accident in the course of your business activities, but not arising from circumstances that are covered by your motor policy.

Liability arising from goods that have been carried on the vehicle is generally covered by the motor policy.
